For the purpose of these terms and conditions the following words shall have the following meanings:
- ‘I/us/we/our’ shall mean Sovay Berriman, PlumbMaid and representatives of PlumbMaid.
- ‘You’ shall mean you: the customer, person or organisation for whom we agree to carry out works and/or supply or materials.
- ‘Our representative’ shall be the person we send to you to do work.
- Services are anything offered by PlumbMaid
By accepting an estimate or asking us to attend a property you are accepting our terms and conditions.
Consultancy ServiceI offer a consultancy service to architects and builders who want to accommodate future changes to heating and plumbing in their planning, with a particular focus on being heat pump ready and transitioning to lower carbon heating.
Safe Working Practices
We continue to maintain the safest of working practices, following trade guidelines for best practice, and making adjustments where necessary, to keep us all safe.
Please ensure surfaces of appliances to be worked on, and the surrounding working area, are clean and clear prior to our visit. Particularly in the case of sanitary-ware such as basins, baths, showers and WCs. If these appear not to be clean we will clean them before commencing plumbing work and charge the time at our usual plumbing & heating rate.
We will carry out works using PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as face coverings and gloves where necessary, and may have windows open for good air flow. We are happy to use safe distancing or take lateral flow tests prior to attendance where requested.
PlumbMaid strives to be a climate-aware, anti-racist, trans-ally, accessible and feminist business. Instances of ablism, misogyny, queer-phobia, racism, trans-misia or any other oppressive behaviour or expressions will not be tolerated and may result in the job being terminated, without the return of any deposit paid.
Plumbing & Heating Engineer Rates from 1st Oct 2025
Single plumber: £80/first hour, £40/hour thereafter, £30/half hour, £250/day
Team of two: £120/first hour, £80/hour thereafter, £50/half hour, £500/day
Out of hours emergencies are charged at double time.
Minimum charge one hour.
Payment Terms
Payment should be made upon receipt of invoice, and within 7 days.
Payments later than 30 days will be charged at 8% above the Bank of England base rate in accordance with The Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
What Payment Methods Are Accepted?
We primarily request payments via bank transfer, our bank details are found on our invoices. We do accept payment by card via Zettle, a secure payment processing platform. We also accept payment by cash and will provide you with a confirmation of your payment via a paper or digital receipt.
Estimates, Deposits & Handling Charge
We provide estimates rather than quotations, therefore prices can be subject to change. Particularly at present as material prices are volatile.
Estimates are valid for one month and must be accepted in writing via email or whatsapp/sms message.
On accepting an estimate a deposit of 50% is requested a week in advance of work commencement for all works estimated at two or more days of duration, and/or where materials costs are expected to be above £400.
Parts and materials supplied by us will be charged at the trade price plus a 10-20% handling charge.
Cancellations
If you need to cancel or rearrange your planned work, please notify us in writing - via email or WhatsApp/sms/iMessage - within 3 working days of the arranged commencement of the planned work.
Likewise should we need to cancel or rearrange work, we will endeavour to notify you within 3 working days of the arranged commencement of the planned work.
We acknowledge that due to emergencies or sickness short notice, from both sides, is sometimes unavoidable. We will do our best to rearrange the work as soon as is possible once the sickness or emergancy has passed.
Can I cancel once I have paid a deposit?
If you have made a deposit payment but chose to cancel the work ahead of commencement, you may cancel your booking and receive a refund of said deposit, less the cost of any materials we have already purchased plus the handling change, if you cancel at least 3 working days ahead of the agreed date and time for commencement of the work.
Cancellations made within 3 working days of the agreed date and time for commencement of the work forfeit any deposit already paid. If you choose to rearrange a date and time for the work we will carry your deposit over to the new arrange work commencement date, less a 20% rearrangement fee.
Please get in touch with us as soon as you need to cancel, and we will respond as soon as possible to confirm cancellation and to rearrange the work date with you, or to arrange any refund owed.
Is my information safe?
We do not store any of your card or banking information. Your payment details will be managed by your bank or Zettle depending on your payment method, and you can view their privacy and security information on their website.
We will keep the details of all work undertaken by us (which will include your name and address) for 6 years after the date of the completion of the work, for insurance purposes. If we continue to undertake work within your property we will continue to hold details of the work undertaken by us until 6 years has passed since we last worked within your property.
Your personal information is managed safely and carefully by us, and will not be passed on to third party. All information is held on iCloud storage that is password protected.
Warranty
All labour is under warranty for 12 months. Any claim under this warranty must be submitted in writing to plumbers@plumbmaid.co.uk within 12 months of the completion of the work. If you do not contact us about the work in question within the 12 month period then we shall have no liability.
Fittings and appliances carry manufacturers’ warranties.
